AuthorI have been a counselor for over 15 years and yet this title does not define me. Mother, Friend, Daughter, Sister, Yogi, Designer, Gardener... these titles do not solely define me either. Who we are is a continuous weaving of "titles" into our lives. There are times we weave more of the yarn that represent certain parts of ourselves, times when we drop the yarn that was once an integral fiber of our being and there is always opportunity to start weaving in an entirely new type of yarn. Growing up, careers, children, aging, injury, trauma and all the variations of change that emerge throughout our lifetime effect what defines us. There is no right or wrong as to how many spools of yarn are in our basket or how we choose to utilize them. Each of us are the sole engineers for our own identity. |
